JMT Fostering is a part of JMT Care Services which provides fostering and young adult placements, care leavers support (In-Touch), and therapeutic support (JMT Therapeutic Services) for children and young people across Scotland. We are a small not-for-profit organisation located in Scotland with offices in Livingston, Dundee and Prestwick
Since 1997, we have sought to make a difference for Scotland’s children and young people who are unable to live at home. With JMT Fostering, children and young people have placements that are supported and secure because we have foster carers who are committed to making a difference in their lives. For young people placed with JMT Fostering carers who are preparing to leave care but are not ready for independence, a transition JMT Young Adult Placement allows them to remain with their foster carers as young adults until the age of 21. Our carers have access to a small professional and motivated team of supervising social workers who are available 24 hours every day to support our carers to give the best quality care to children and young people in their care.
As an individual service and as part of JMT Care Services, JMT Fostering has an ethos guided by P.A.C.E. (playful, accepting, curious, empathic) principles. To offer the children and young people in our care the best support, we believe that our practice must be trauma informed and our interactions influenced by P.A.C.E. In order to do this all staff and carers are given training in Dyadic Developmental Practice from which the principles of P.A.C.E. come.
